How Whatnot fees work for TCG sellers
Selling trading cards on Whatnot is fast, but the headline hammer price is never what actually lands in your account. Between Whatnot's selling fee, payment processing, and your own packaging and postage, a £20 hit can quietly become a much smaller number. This free calculator does the maths in real time so you can price floors, set reserves and run giveaways without guessing.
Selling fee — 8%
Whatnot charges commission on the final hammer price: 8% on the portion up to £1,500 and 0% above. On a £20 sale that's £1.60; on a £2,000 grail only the first £1,500 is charged (£120), the rest fee-free.
Processing — 2.9% + £0.30
Card processing is 2.9% of the sale plus a flat £0.30 per transaction. That fixed 30p is exactly why thin, low-value sales (£1–£3 commons) so often lose money once postage is added.
Reading your margin
Net profit is what you keep; margin is that profit as a percentage of the sale. As a rough guide: under 10% is a thin margin, 10–25% is decent, and 25%+ is a strong sale worth repeating.
Does this include Whatnot buyer shipping? +
No. Whatnot collects shipping from the buyer separately, so it is neither your cost nor your income. Only your own label cost affects your profit, and that has its own field.
Are the fees exact? +
They follow Whatnot's standard UK structure — 8% selling fee (capped at £1,500 of sale value) and 2.9% + £0.30 processing. Promotions, categories or region can change this, so always reconcile against your seller statement.
Is anything I type stored or sent anywhere? +
No. The entire calculator runs in your browser. Nothing you enter leaves your device.
Can I use it for sealed product and slabs too? +
Yes — it works for any single Whatnot sale: singles, sealed boxes, graded slabs. Just enter your cost, the hammer price, and your packaging and postage.
